This is my very first lesson for you.
I wanted the first post to be the most critical, important, and urgent of all my lessons for you, Miss Lily. The one that if you disregarded, forgot, or lost all of the other lessons combined, it would still be okay because you would know the most important thing of all:
You are enough.
Right this very second. Without ever having to do another thing in your life, good or bad. You are enough. You matter. You are absolutely, truly, unquestionably worthy.
You see, you were born enough my darling niece, and nothing and no one could ever possibly change that fact. Ever. Ev-er!
I want you to know today, tomorrow, and for every single day ahead of you that you are already you – and you are already enough.
However, this isn’t a lesson in putting your feet up ‘cos you’re done. No, no, no, no, no.
This is a lesson that says that you should go about your life following your interests and passions; making great friends; falling in (and sometimes out) of love; doing stuff that matters to you; doing stuff that earns you money; doing stuff just for the hell of it; learning about things, teaching others about things, being fun; being serious; feeling joyous; feeling terrible; making great choices; making mistakes; falling flat, and succeeding big – and everything in-between. Whatever you choose, it’s all up to you. Because wherever you go, whatever you do, and whoever you have with you is all up to you and the choices you make – that’s great, and that’s how it’s meant to be! But what all of that stuff doesn’t determine, what it doesn’t decide, is whether you’re enough or not – that’s already determined. You are.
So, Miss Lily, go places and do things with people who matter to you. But while you’re at it, don’t chase some imaginary and totally unnecessary idea that your worthiness is measured by others or by the things you do or don’t do. Don’t fall into a trap of thinking you have to BE, DO, or HAVE something/anything before you are worthy. If you chase it outside of yourself, I can tell you right now – you will never find it. Never. Nev-er!
So cut out the heartache and struggle of finding your ‘enough’ my darling girl and take it from me – someone who got a bit lost for a while down that harder, unnecessary, imaginary road – you are already there, you are already where you need to be. You are enough.
Right this very second.
Love,
Aunty xo
